Yomuka!

Welcome to Yomuka! I’m Chewy, and this website is my brainchild-in-progress: an interactive exploration into Japanese language and culture, with a special focus on literature. Novels by Japanese authors seem to be increasing in popularity in America in recent years, and what I hope to do is bring popular novels–primarily in the original Japanese–to people who are studying the language. Reading books in Japanese can be an invaluable supplement to basic textbooks, allowing language learners to surpass the rigid and stilted language in textbooks and gain firsthand insight into Japanese culture and mentality.

With that said, I am also going to introduce and review Japanese novels that have already been translated into English. The native language book reviews are going to be targeted towards those who have at least a solid grasp on Japanese language, but I also want to provide those with limited or no Japanese ability with a look into Japanese culture and mentality.
